On Thursday, the Lumberjacks were back on the field for another practice, and their final tune-up before their second scrimmage tomorrow night inside the Skydome. While the Lumberjacks do have another double-day practice tomorrow, the morning session is simply a mock-game walk through for players to adjust to the new pre-game warm-up countdown. Then, the pads are popping during scrimmage number two inside the Skydome. Lumberjacks Wrap Up Fall Camp with Busy Day

WELCOME BACK JACKS

The Football Lumberjacks closed out their 2011 fall camp on Thursday, August 25, 2011, with a busy day for the student-athletes. The morning began with the team participating in the annual “Welcome Back Jacks” campaign which helps incoming freshmen and returning students move into their new homes in the dormitories on campus. This has become an annual event and one that NAU Football is proud to participate in.

The long day for the Lumberjacks concluded with the camp’s final scrimmage in the evening. The scrimmage was a competitive battle which featured each unit (offense and defense) working in selected scenarios.

NAU Spring Scrimmage 2011

We want to send out a big thanks to everyone who attended Saturday’s Blue and Gold scrimmage at Sinagua. It was cold and a little windy, but the Jacks completed their 15 spring practices with a good scrimmage that featured some hard running by Zach Bauman, a goal line stand by the NAU defense, and two touchdown receptions from Khalil Paden. Jotini’s provided a great barbecue following the scrimmage as well. It was a great ending to a spring that saw many of our young players make great improvement. Enjoy all of our photos from the day!

Saturday Scrimmage Highlights

The defense shined for most of the day, but the offense got two late scores, including touchdown catches by Khalil Paden and Ify Umodu, that made Saturday productive for both sides of the ball. Saturday’s 60-play exchange was a tune-up for this coming Saturday’s annual Spring Scrimmage at Sinagua Middle School. The Jacks will try to get 80-90 snaps in that day. There will be a barbecue catered by Jotini’s following the game. The cost is $5 per person. We hope to see you there! Enjoy some new photos from the weekend! Former defensive end Brandon Vance took the ones below.
