The Jacks got a day off yesterday to rest a bit and prepare for another challenging week of practice. Today’s practice was going smoothly until a big monsoon with lots of lightning moved in forcing the team to practice in the Skydome. The coaching staff is about done installing their schemes and now is working on refining things. The players responded with a lively exchange at the end of the morning practice. NAU’s home opener is just over a week away!

NAU Fall Camp: Practice No. 2
The NAU football team took the field outside for the first time this fall and was met with picture-perfect, sunny weather. The Lumberjacks began their non-contact practice in the late morning just after the Arizona Cardinals left the field. The offense and defense concentrated mostly on fundamentals and individual drills while integrating and installing the basics of their schemes.
The defense flew around and overall had a good day. The offense also looked sharp most of the morning. Freshman Iffy Umodu made a spectacular catch during the 7-on-7 session. (He also made a one-handed grab last night in practice.) The team continues to work in the new freshmen and get them acclimated to their new surroundings and a new system.
The Lumberjacks continue with meetings tonight and practice tomorrow at 11 am.
