On Wednesday night the Lumberjacks completed their third and final intra-squad scrimmage of the preseason and the final practice of camp before preparation for Arizona State begins on Friday. The scrimmage provided yet another opportunity for the defense to flex its muscles and demonstrate it’s physicality. Senior cornerback Devin Willis made some nice plays, including one hit in particular that brought some “ooh’s” and “ahh’s” from the team and the crowd. Also, sophomore cornerback Blake Bailey made some good plays on passes and runs his direction. Most of the starters on the evening saw limited reps, which allowed some of the reserves and role players to demonstrate their talents. Junior running back Daniel Pipkin impressed on a few carries, along with some of the young players on the offensive line. Also, Junior kicker Andy Wilder nailed a pair of long, booming field goals. The scrimmage overall was a lot cleaner than the previous two featuring less penalties and less turnovers, and resulted in only a couple minor injuries.
The Lumberjacks have tomorrow off from practice, and will officially close out fall camp with the team talent show tomorrow evening. Be sure to check back here for highlights of the talent show!
