Lumberjacks Hit the Field in First Spring Practice of 2012

NAU Football got back on the field for the first time since the end of the 2011 season on Tuesday kicking off their 2012 Spring practice schedule. Tuesday’s practice is the first of 15 in the spring and featured a focus on fundamentals and individual drill work with a very energetic tempo.

The Jacks are back on the field Thursday afternoon to continue to spring practice schedule and preparations for the 2012 season. Now, enjoy some of the sights from the 2012 season.

New Future Big Sky Football Schedules Released

The Big Sky Conference released the football schedules for 2012-15 seasons today. These are the first schedules of the newly-expanded 13-team conference. As you probably know, the Big Sky added Cal Poly, UC Davis, Southern Utah, and North Dakota in November. What this means for NAU is that it will have regional match-ups with Southern Utah and Northern Colorado every season for the next four years.

The Jacks’ 2012 conference schedule looks like this:

9/22     @Montana
9/29     Portland State
Bye
10/13   @North Dakota
10/20   UC Davis
10/27  @Northern Colorado
11/3      @Idaho State
11/10    Southern Utah
11/17    Cal Poly

Some regional rivalries are intended to develop over the years as teams closest to each other are scheduled for the final week of the regular season. These match-ups will take place: NAU – Southern Utah (with the exception of 2012), Portland State – Eastern Washington, Idaho State – Weber State, Montana – Montana State, Northern Colorado – North Dakota, and UC Davis – Sacramento.
