Lumberjacks Scrimmage Through Windy Conditions

The Lumberjacks second scrimmage of the 2012 Spring occurred on Friday during windy and cool conditions in Flagstaff. The scrimmage contained some lively competition and friendly banter with yet again the offense having the competitive edge over the defense. The scrimmage was also broken up by a visit and brief message by NAU’s new Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Lisa Campos. A picture of Dr. Campos addressing the team can be found here (thanks to NAU Media Relations Director Steve Shaff). All in all the scrimmage allowed many players to get valuable reps and the long upcoming weekend allows players to rest up and get healthy for when the Jacks return to the field on Tuesday. Until then, enjoy some photos from Friday’s scrimmage.

Competition Fuels Jacks Fifth Practice

Five practices into the Lumberjacks 2012 spring practice schedule and there are some intense competitions occurring. Thursday’s practice encouraged some healthy competition amongst teammates as it featured release and fade drills with wide receives facing off against defensive backs, full and half 7 on 7 drills, 1 on 1 pass rush drills against offensive linemen and defensive lineman, and ultimately culminated with a fierce 20 minute team period that went completely live. Both sides of the ball stepped up to answer the call of competition by showing intensity and energy. With both sides working so hard, the half practice – half scrimmage this Saturday, April 7th, should be especially interesting.  Check out the photos below and on the Flickr page to see more of the competitions occurring this spring!

More on the above photo (#38 – Taylor Malenfant) next week!
