Be The First to See Your New Lumberjacks!

Join us as the 2012 recruiting classes are revealed for NAU Cross Country, Track & Field, Women’s Soccer and Football.

Coaches from each team will discuss each recruiting class and share with you brief video presentations.

SIGNING DAY INFORMATION

Date & Time: Wednesday, February 1

- 5:00 – 5:30 pm – Check-In. Meet & get autographs from NAU student-athletes!

- 5:30 – 6:30 pm – 2012 Signing Day Program

Location: Granny’s Closet (218 S. Milton Rd, Flagstaff, AZ – Map Here)

Refreshments: FREE Light Appetizers & beverages

- WING NIGHT @ Granny’s – The best wings in town at the best price in town. That’s right 40 cent Wild Wing Wednesday!

2011 End of the Year Banquet

The Annual NAU Football Banquet will be held on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012, at High Country Conference Center on the NAU Campus. (A map to the venue can be found here).

Banquet entry fee will be $15 per person. Events for the ceremony will proceed as following:

- 2:00 PM – Registration

- 2:30 PM – Dessert Social

-3:00 PM – Awards Ceremony

Everyone who wishes to attend MUST RSVP by Monday, January 16th, 2012. To RSVP call (928)-523-5353 and provide payment information for everyone in your party who wishes to attend. Forms of payment accepted include cash, check, and credit card.

Large print photos will NOT be available for purchase this year, however, season photos DVD’s will be available for purchase at $15 apiece. If you have any requests, questions, or concerns please feel free to call Matt Howdeshell at 928-523-6800.

Jacks Honor Seniors During Senior Day Game

Saturday marked the final home game of the 2011 NAU Football Season and therefore the final home game for the 2011 NAU Football Seniors. The seniors were honored during a pregame ceremony which motivated the entire team against a tough opponent in Southern Utah.

To all of the 2011 NAU Football Seniors, thank you very much for your hard work and dedication during your time at NAU. You will ALWAYS be a part of the NAU “Football Family.”

Lumberjacks Hold Scout Bowl & Final Practice for Seniors

SCOUT BOWL

This week the Lumberjacks held their annual Scout Bowl. This pitted the offensive scout team against the defensive scout team. The scout teams are made up of red shirted and reserve players who imitate the opponents starting offense or defense for each of the Lumberjack sides of the ball. The Scout Bowl is an opportunity for players who don’t get a chance to play on Saturdays to demonstrate their talents. Highlights from this years Scout Bowl are below:

SENIOR’S FINAL PRACTICE

Thursday was the NAU senior’s final practice and it is NAU tradition for the underclassmen to carry the Seniors off of the field afterwards. Some of the photos are below while the rest on the Flickr page along with photos from the Scout Bowl.

NAU Falls to Weber State in Final Seconds

Northern Arizona Football traveled to Weber State in Ogden, UT to take on the Wildcats this past weekend. The game started out as a slow, defensive battle as players battled the snowy elements throughout the first half. Eventually the game turned into a shootout with Weber State scoring the go-ahead touchdown with only seconds left on the clock.

Former NAU Player and Program Supporter Ed Duley Passes Away

Former NAU football player Ed Duley passed away on November 9th, 2011. Duley played at NAU in the late 1960′s and has since been a huge supporter of the football program.

The funeral for Ed will be held on Thursday, November 17th at 1:00 PM and will occur at:

Lumberjacks Beat Northern Colorado; Pick up Second Win in a Row

On Saturday the Lumberjacks hosted the Northern Colorado Bears who were seeking their first win of the season. The Jacks outlasted the Bears 34-14 to pickup their third conference win and improve to 4-5 overall. NAU travels to Weber State this coming Saturday (November 12^th) for a 1:30PM kickoff at Stewart Stadium.

Former NAU Football Player Stevon Thomas Passes Away

The NAU Football Family lost a valuable member on Monday, October 31st, as former player Stevon Thomas passed away. Thomas was a 2010 NAU graduate who captained the 2009 squad and was a member of the 2008 team. In 2009 Thomas was an All-Big Sky Second Team selection, and in 2008 was an All-Big Sky Honorable Mention selection. Prior to NAU Thomas played at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, CA where he earned All-State Region 3 honors, and All-Foothill Conference honors. Thomas was also a 2006 graduate from Norco High School where he was a two year captain for the squad which earned a 37-5 record during that span. Thomas holds the single season record for tackles at Norco with 155.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and former teammates.

Jacks Get Much Needed, Hard Fought Victory at Sacramento State

On Saturday, October 29, 2011, the NAU Lumberjacks faced the Sacramento State Hornets in Sacramento and came out with a hard fought victory with the final score being 27-26. The win reflected a total team effort from the offense, defense, and special teams with each group stepping up when needed. More information about the game can be found here.
