Fall camp for football players is a grind. The long days and long hours of workouts, meetings, and practices all seem to run together eventually for the players and the structure and setting can get old. On Friday, the Lumberjacks were scheduled to have a double day practice, their fifth of the camp. Before the morning practice Coach Souers called an ‘emergency’ team meeting in the locker room. Everyone in the locker room was anxious and had no idea what to expect. To see what ensued, watch the video below!
Special Thanks to Starlite Lanes for hosting the NAU Football Team!
On Thursday, the Lumberjacks were back on the field for another practice, and their final tune-up before their second scrimmage tomorrow night inside the Skydome. While the Lumberjacks do have another double-day practice tomorrow, the morning session is simply a mock-game walk through for players to adjust to the new pre-game warm-up countdown. Then, the pads are popping during scrimmage number two inside the Skydome. In the video below Senior Offensive Lineman Trey Gilleo, Head Coach Jerome Souers, and Junior Defensive Lineman Tim Wilkinson preview the scrimmage. Enjoy!
On Saturday, April 28th, NAU Football held their Blue-White Spring Game on the upper practice fields. It was a chance for both the offense and defense to demonstrate what they hey had been working on all spring and how much they have improved since the fall. The game remained close and went back and forth until the end when the offense began to pull away. The offense was led on the day by none other than running back Zach Bauman. However, interceptions by freshman corner Marcus Alford and freshman safety Robert Watson kept the defense in the game. The offense mounted a few late scoring drives to pull away and win the game, 62-53. For more information on the game, please click here.
A special thanks to everyone who made the Spring Game such a great event and thanks to everyone who came out!
